Was it the error of the gate agent? For the record, widebody (and narrowbody) domestic flights arrive (and leaving) in/(from) G is not unusual. Fairly common actually to help with UA operational needs.

Personally have never been sent to immigration and custom on G arrival of domestic flights. Did no one (pax or anyone else) notice when gate area hadn't appeared after 15-30 seconds of walking following deplaning?
