Sorry for seeming so clueless but just a little confused after having fixed yearly goals on a specific set date with BA and also that with BA you would have status from the day you reach the next tier to the end of that tier year and the whole of the next year, but I gather with VS it is strictly 12 months from date of qualification for a specific tier?
From Virgin Atlantic website:
Red members: To upgrade from Red to our Silver tier you'll need to earn 400 Tier Points in any Upgrade Cycle. Your Upgrade Cycle is calculated from the current date of the month, to the 1st day of the same month in the previous year.
Silver or Gold members: Once you're a Silver/Gold member you’ll remain in that tier provided you earn the minimum number of Tier Points for that tier within our Upgraded Fixed Membership Period (that’s 400* Tier Points to stay Silver, 1,000** Tier Points to stay Gold). This period is calculated from one day after the date on which you achieved Silver/Gold and continues for the remainder of that month plus a further 12 months.
1. Correct. Your upgrade cycle has nothing to do with the date you joined the programme. E.g you can get 400 tier points within the first 4 months of joining the programme, your upgrade cycle would be calculated based on that date. The only consideration is that tier points expire after 12 months so you have approximately 12 months from start date to upgrade to the next tier.
2. You will have until end of February 2025 to get enough tier points for Silver
3. You would have until end of/ 31st October to get enough tier points (400) to retain Silver
4. You have until end of/31st January 2025 to gain enough tier points (1000) to retain Gold
Hope that helps. I was recently calculating for myself as well and requires some pondering.
