Like the previous poster said, keep it simple. In case of cancellation it is irrelevant whether you arrive at your destination or not (compared to delays) in terms of EU/UK261, so long as the "best" alternative offered is scheduled to arrive (was it 2 hours?) after the original arrival at the final destination OR departs more than 1 hour early from your first point of departure. The regulation also requires the alternatives to be in comparable conditions, so if you booked J, it should be J. If the only offer J is going to arrive outside of the -1/+2 hours, then cancellation compensation is due. If they offer you a flight in Y that arrives within -1/+2 hours then compensation is still due since the comparable transport conditions are not fulfilled, though not sure why anyone would take that offer.

So your claim to DL would be something along the lines of:
---
Ticket Number: [ORIGINAL]
. I was booked on XXX (with the TATL leg n PS) and after check-in was notified on a cancellation in the ITN.
. I was rerouted and eventually flew onto YYY (with the TATL leg in Y) scheduled to arrive at XYZ

I believe I am owed EU 261 cancellation compensation along with downgrade compensation.
----

The claim to KL would be something along the lines of:
---
Ticket Number: [AFTER FIRST REROUTE]
. I was booked on YYY and at CDG was notified of this service being cancelled.
. I was rerouted onto ZZZ scheduled to arrive at XYZ / arrived late at XYZ.

I believe I am owed EU 261 cancellation compensation.
----

The claim to BA would be something along the lines of:
---
Ticket Number: [AFTER SECOND REROUTE]
. I was booked on ZZZ scheduled to depart LHR at ABC
. Due to a delay (insert reason if given to you by staff/pilot/FA) I arrived late at my destination EWR(?) by DEF hours.

I believe I am owed EU 261 delay compensation.
----

Regarding the cancellation rules in EU261
...(c) have the right to compensation by the operating air carrier in accordance with Article 7, unless:

(i) they are informed of the cancellation at least two weeks before the scheduled time of departure; or

(ii) they are informed of the cancellation between two weeks and seven days before the scheduled time of departure and are offered re-routing, allowing them to depart no more than two hours before the scheduled time of departure and to reach their final destination less than four hours after the scheduled time of arrival; or

(iii) they are informed of the cancellation less than seven days before the scheduled time of departure and are offered re-routing, allowing them to depart no more than one hour before the scheduled time of departure and to reach their final destination less than two hours after the scheduled time of arrival.
