First Class seats on CA 773 is not a bad product if UA makes the award available (and reasonable). The IFE contents on Air China are still catered for Chinese passengers, but so are most of the non-UA airlines.

I'm a bit confused by UA's pricing (e.g. 53.1k clearly isn't tied to revenue, and back when they published award charts, the numbers were much more straightforward...35k for Y, 45k for J, and 60k for F, which included xxx-PEK on the front end and IAD-yyy on the backend, if desired).

CA is one of the worst Star Alliance partners regarding J/F awards.

Forget about long haul routes. Even domestic routes within China it's hard to find CA J/F awards.
