There are plenty of downsides to this offer--in my area Co-op is usually several cents per litre cheaper than Journie-affiliated stations, no card required. Or I can earn Air Miles at Shell while getting an instant 3 cent per litre discount on the pump price by scanning my CAA card, regardless of how I pay. By contrast Journie fuel discounts are only offered if you pay with a CIBC debit or credit card.

That being said, I can see value in this if you only need a small amount of additional points in order to make an Aeroplan flight redemption.
