It has always bothered me that airlines enforce an artificial "class distinction" between the, um, classes. As an SE that nearly always requests an upgrade, sometimes I make the cut and sometimes I don't, but I am the same passenger making the airline the same amount of money either way. My least favourite example is that drinks flow as freely as you want in J and sometimes they make you feel like a criminal if you ask for a second one in Y.
I tend not to use the call button, as I like to stretch my legs, so I generally go to the galley and ask for what I want. The exceptions are when I'm in a window seat and my neighbours are sleeping, or when the seatbelt light is on. I don't hesitate to use it in those cases, no matter where I am sitting, as getting service at my seat is part of the service offered in all classes.
