Unless your trip is unexpectedly cut short while you are midway through the process of washing/drying clothes (which, does happen on rare occasion), you should never encounter a wet clothes in luggage scenario. Rather, you will have dirty dry clothes instead. But, my protocol for dirty dry clothes and wet clothes isn't all that different...those things get heavily quarantined from the other stuff in durable plastic bags, or at least doubled up flimsy plastic bags. In both cases, I don't want the problem clothes to mingle with the soft and fresh clothes, and also in both cases, the problem clothes end up in the washing machine shortly after I get settled in at home.
