So fast forward a few months and my wife and I are in Bali. The flights were great.

We arrived in Oslo around 3pm or so and made our way to the Radisson Blue. The next day we flew on a 787 to Doha. I like the business class set. It’s not Qsuite but the calf support etc and layout are nice in my opinion. Service was good.

The layover was fantastic. We went to Al Mourjan first and had some food and drinks. One of the lounge managers managed to book us a quiet room at the gardens and we used it for some time to unwind and relax. Lounge food was good. My favourite was the lamb shank and the sea bass with soy ginger sauce.

Overall the whole experience was fantastic. And to my surprise we flew on the A350-1000 on Qsuites to Bali. The backwards facing seats were a novelty for us but I didn’t feel much difference in comparison to forward facing seats.

The Qsuites are tight but love the privacy with the doors shut. Food was OK and I got a few hours of sleep. The foot room is a bit tight for a 6’3 guy like myself but I managed just fine.

Overall wife and I arrived refreshed and not grumpy at our destination. And as a surprising result which I honestly hadn’t planned I managed to obtain Bronze status with BA which will transfer to silver once back in the UK. So as geek this is a very positive surprise.

Thought I’d let you all know. Next time to Maldives I hope to use my accumulated Avios. For me it really starts to make a huge difference now.
