Yes it would be faster to reach this hotel via the coastal expressway. I have driven this route in the past and the traffic is generally not heavy as most people are routed via the main freeway in order to reach downtown Taipei. But keep in mind you will need a car to travel via the coastal expressway versus having multiple public transit options via the main freeway #1.
Ok, thanks. I would not be looking to drive; probably take a taxi. It just happens that I have a business meeting with a company near the hotel, so I thought I might give this property a try for a one-night stay. I am thinking of an early flight arriving TPE in the morning, and then going straight to the hotel for the meeting (thus, the query re: traffic). Otherwise, I will stay the night before the meeting, and then head to the airport in the afternoon after my meeting.
