AM's 'ways' can come in handy. I remember many years ago trying to check in to a UA flight from IAH to MEX but they denied me because they'd imposed an embargo on oversize luggage without telling me. I sauntered over to the AM desk and had the following transaction:

"Do you have an embargo too?"

"What's an embargo?"

"Great, I'll take one ticket to Mexico City please"

But in all seriousness, I hope they payout quickly and without argument

I'll try my luck with AM but maybe travel insurance is now the best avenue.

It's just frustrating having to deal with AM from the UK. I also wonder if it's now over 4 months ago, whether they will tell me to do one (if I ever get a reply).

Thanks for the advice
