I don't think I've been to Agios Nicolaos before, and I don't know what to expect.
But I have to admit that I generally prefer hotels that combine seaside and urban life (such as the excellent InterContinental Cascais-Estoril, or of course the Carlton, a Regent hotel) rather than pure resorts, where I get bored quite quickly.
Typically, I only stay two or three days at Six Senses Ibiza or Kaplankaya, where I love the facilities, the food and the quality of service. But you have to take a car if you want to visit the surrounding area. The Kimpton Mallorca is a good compromise: in a secluded, peaceful and leafy environment, but from which, by bike, you can easily explore the region.
In any case, the transformation of the adjoining
NIKO Seaside Resort Crete - MGallery Hotel Collection (same owner) is quite remarkable (Ironically, the only complaints are about the noise caused by renovations to the hotel next door, the future InterContinental).
Let's wait for the opening to see what the hotel and the surrounding area will look like. A detailed review will of course be carried out by yours truly.
