Rooms are dated, bathrooms are pretty old, and there is a lot of sound transference from neighbouring rooms.

We did not spend much time at the hotel with trips to Nara , universal studios so it was perfectly fine for our purposes and we found the walk to the subway lines short.

staff here are polite but do not go above and beyond to try and help you like some other hotels but if you give them specific instructions (for example they were able to buy us universal studios Japan tickets and bill it to the room) they are fine fulfilling those sorts of simple requests.

The feel is a busy business hotel with some high school groups staying here as well.

breakfast at the restaurant at level 2 is a bit of a cattle call so recommend the lounge breakfast for a more quiet relaxing meal although less selection.

as a platinum member was only upgraded from a standard room to a king room.

I believe there may be some renovated rooms, but on both of my stays here had the old rooms.

They did offer to move us to a junior suite on our final night there but i looked at the room pictures of the junior suites and felt it wasn’t worth it to move just for one night.

Unable to apply suite night upgrades here.

the airport shuttle to the hotel was super convenient

pro tip: you can access the kinetsu and osaka subway lines quicker by taking the elevator down to b2

The hotel is conveniently located next to Osaka-Uehommachi and Tanimachi 9 chome stations, providing easy access to both the subway and the Kintetsu railway lines. While there aren't any significant attractions within the hotel itself, there are plenty of reasonable food options located downstairs at B1. The noise level in our room was great during our stay, but I have seen online reports of noise issues in unrefurbished rooms, so that's something to be aware of.

Our room was refurbished, with a decor that matched the trends of the 2010s and 2020s. The furnishings were in good condition and the room was generally comfortable. The bathroom was small and cramped, with no shower room – instead, you had to stand in the bathtub to take a shower.

The housekeeping staff did an excellent job, with daily cleaning and resupply of bottled water, which was also provided free of charge. The health club facility at the hotel charges 1,100 yen per use, which was a bit of a disappointment, especially since we were Marriott Bonvoy platinum elites. However, the Japanese norms in services meant that we received great service overall.

As platinum elites, we had three options for breakfast – the lounge, the Japanese restaurant, or the western restaurant. The latter two options required a welcome amenity choice, and the Japanese restaurant also had an additional charge of 1,600 yen. In our experience, the Japanese restaurant was not worth the additional charge. The western restaurant had an adequate spread of both hot and cold options, but during peak times there was often a lengthy queue. The lounge retained most of the spread featured in the downstairs western restaurant, but with ample space at all times. If you're considering the western restaurant for breakfast, you might want to keep this in mind and opt for the lounge instead during peak times. Do note that both the lounge and the western restaurant only serve scrambled eggs, fried eggs, and omelette – if you want to enjoy egg benedict or poached eggs, you might want to look elsewhere.

The Sheraton lounge, situated on the 20th floor, is available to Club room guests, as well as Marriott Bonvoy platinum elites and higher. It features breakfast and afternoon tea alongside Happy Hour daily, as well as a selection of tea, coffee, and soft drinks during the day and alcoholic beverages between 5:30-9:30pm for free.

The hotel's amenities were generally good. The hotel's restaurant and bar were also satisfactory, with no major issues. The service we received from the staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were both smooth and efficient.

Overall, I felt that the Sheraton Miyako Osaka offered good value for money. We paid 55,000 yen for our 3-night stay over the new year, which was greatly worth the price considering how little we paid in the end thanks to a 25% BRG discount. The location was convenient for exploring the city, and the room and facilities were generally satisfactory. There were a few small issues with the bathroom and lack of a shower room, but these weren't major problems. The great housekeeping, good breakfast options, and friendly service more than made up for these issues.

I would recommend the Sheraton Miyako Osaka to others, with the caveat to be aware of potential noise issues in unrefurbished rooms and the additional charge for the Japanese restaurant. If you're a Marriott Bonvoy platinum elite or higher, be sure to take advantage of the amenities and services offered at the Sheraton lounge. All in all, we had a pleasant stay at the Sheraton Miyako Osaka and would consider returning in the future.

Both excellent reviews.

I just checked, Sheraton room rate is now 22500 JPY. This is 50% more than 15000 JPY.

Is it still worth the price tag?

Also I can't use SNA. Nothing is available.

OTOH, Westin rate is 33000 JPY and allows SNA.
