Thank you for your help. I did not have seats selected on my original ticket.

When you say all trains from Leipzig to Nurnberg of the same category, do you mean class (first or second)?. The original ticket was Super Sparpreis and was scheduled to depart at 07:48 and arrive at 9:52 (ICE503). When I look at the schedule, ICE 503 still exists and departs at 7:48 but arrives at 11:19 and tickets for this train are available for purchase. So I am really confused - Am I dealing with a schedule change (change in arrival time) or a cancellation? And do I have to take any action; if so how? If it is a schedule change, why didn't they just say that? I'd actually like to take a later train and am willing to book seats, if I can do that - can I?

Regardless, you now have a ticket valid on all trains from Leipzig to Nuerberg of the same category or lower than the one you originally selected. You do not need to exchange your ticket.

If you also reserved a seat (seat reservations and train tickets live in separate universes) that seat reservation is now worthless, so you should request a refund from DB. If you want to you can now also reserve a seat on another train. This you can do on the website: https://int.bahn.de/en/offers/Seat-r...tion-and-other or just go to the main page, scroll down and click there on "seat reservation".
