Hey everyone, quick question I could use some guidance on. I have 2 Barclays upgrade vouchers that I would like to use for 2 people on a return long haul CW booking for next year. As the seats go very quickly, I rang to secure the outbound flight at midnight when released, and successfully used one voucher + Avios. The agent was super knowledgable, and said to ring back when the return seats become available and they would add it to the booking and use a second voucher, no problem.
It's now time to secure the return, and I tried calling the US line at 11:35 last night. Unfortunately I didn't get through in time, so as the clock approached midnight, I quickly booked the seats using Avios but no voucher (as it was a one-way not departing UK). I figured it would be best to at least have the seats secured, then clean it up later.
I called BA this morning, and they told me that they couldn't do anything to use the voucher, and that releasing the seats on my inbound booking meant it was likely they wouldn't go back into inventory to then add to my first booking. They also told me that even if there were seats available, I couldn't add the return to my first booking and use a voucher. They said this is due to the terms only allowing one voucher to be used for 1 person both ways on a booking, or 2 people one way on a booking. Apparently if there were 2 separate bookings for each passenger they could do this, but due to availability that's probably a non starter. I've called back again, and got the same response.
Doing some research, I suspect the following line in the T&C's is what they are referencing:
A Cabin Upgrade Voucher is an e-voucher that entitles you to a cabin upgrade for two passengers on a one-way journey or one passenger on a return or one-way trip, when you make a reward flight booking (“Cabin Upgrade Voucher”).

However, I note on HFP it says this:
You CAN use two cabin upgrade vouchers on the same booking if you have two in your account, to upgrade both legs of a return flight for two people.

Also, I've tried making a dummy booking on BA.com on a less competitive route, using the Book and Upgrade feature, selecting "Use BA Barclays Cabin Upgrade Voucher and Avios". There, I am able to select 2 vouchers, 2 passengers for a return itinerary, all priced up with no problems. This leads me to believe that what I'm trying to do is possible, or perhaps it's an error and actually shouldn't technically be possible on BA.com?
My plan is to try and call back again tonight and give it another go as soon as the next day's seats become available. Worst case, the next day has Club Suite instead of the old 787 J, so even if I'm not able to add the voucher, I'll probably eat a £35 change, switch to CS and take it as a consolation prize.
Does anyone have any advice here, in particular if what I'm trying to do is indeed possible and the agents I spoke to today were misinformed? If so, any guidance on what I should say to the agent when I try again tonight?
Thanks in advance!
