Is it worth booking a flexible ticket?

I'm planning to go to Indonesia in February. There's a flight from Sweden with RJ in Business which leaves at 3.20pm. I'm based in West London so I was planning to get the first BA flight out from LHR (so would land in ARN at 10.40am which should be enough time even with a delay). Note: the LHR flight will have to be booked on a separate ticket as I will be flying economy for this leg.

In terms of the RJ fight there's an option to pay for a nonrefundable ticket or a flexible ticket. I'm wondering is there any point in paying extra for a flexible?

I'm definitely going on the trip so no need for me to refund. If something happens in the Middle East which results in RJ cancelling the flight I would be compensated by the airline. My main concern is something may happen on the LHR leg which results in me missing the RJ flight. I belive a flexible ticket only allows a change 24hrs ahead so would I be right in thinking a flexible ticket wouldn't make a difference in this case? I wouldn't be able to change the RJ flight on the day?

Appreciate any advice.
