Amadeus and CMT seems to have devolved into some horrible app-thing that seems less useful than a booking confirmation.

Can you please specify which ones did you use before? As far as I know of, Saudia was the only available site that showed actual coupon status and worked for tickets issued in Amadeus. Also Saudia site doesn't work anymore
CMT never showed full coupon status (which can be 20+ different values). I am not sure what do you mean by Amadeus to check coupon status, since GDS ain't available for free for general public. We can sure agree that CMT is now complete rubbish/worthless tool and classic example to of how to kill a perfectly working product to some unusable peice of crap. ITA matrix ain't far away from the same path.
