I don't see a problem there - you had already qualified for the MQD waver by spending 25K.

The current tracker reflects the current AmEx account situation. It works in the opposite scenario too - when one upgrades AmEx card (from gold to platinum, or from platinum to reserve), the tracker will show the spending on the account from Jan 1st towards 25 or 30K, for plat and reserve, respectively
