I would hypothesize that Southwest may be forcing password resets if compromised credentials are found in their system. This would be to help ensure the security of Rapid Rewards accounts. Always use a unique single-site password for each credential you have. There are tools available to notify you if your credentials have been leaked as part of a data breech. Use them.
