So I shall add that given how easy it is for.many to be platinum without spending anywhere near 50 nights in beds, years spent at platinum is a rather unrepresentative indication of hotel customer value.

To be better representative, for any new fancy lifetime tier just bin off the years at platinum completely and set a total number of paid nights spent in hotel beds. At least then they are rewarding actual hotel customers with future hotel benefits. Plus then Bonvoy's main customers, the hotels, will collectively have seen the money that earned the status.

The CC and bonus EQNs can still count for yearly status if they want them to, but not to skew the lifetime status away from actual hotel guests.
