I certainly think there are too many BNE seats (which makes them the easiest to score lower priced awards or upgrades). A lot of Americans probably don’t know much about Brisbane nor have an interest in visiting it. Sydney/Melbourne always come to mind first. Same for CHC, although UA is currently holding the line on high prices for that route. They may have a reality check after that service commences.
with the caveat that I’m clearly not normal, I’ve never really understood this kind of logic. Melbourne and Sydney are big cities. There are big cities in lots of places. Meanwhile the sort of stuff that makes Australia “unique”- Uluṟu, Kakadu, GBR etc, doesn’t even seem to feature. Who wants to fly half way round the world to get to another big city?
