This is I’m sure a question that is very subjective and anecdotal in some aspects but there are some true differences to be noted as well.
Pre-departure is much better in the front cabin, unless you enjoy having the entire rest of the plane walk past your seat with every 10th person or so making a joke or comment about how they aren’t sitting in J. (“Oh, these must be my seats, hahah”)
The way I mitigate these issues if I am seated in the mini cabin is by boarding at the last possible moment.
One of my colleagues got his camera stolen in the mini-cabin he went to use the washroom during boarding....
I always go for the main cabin.
