  • The room hard product is grade A. Design is beautiful, quality of the finishes is top notch and the views are amazing. The standard room is incredibly well laid out with a huge bathroom and would probably be labelled as a junior suite at some luxury city hotels (it's 55 sqm!)
  • Service was very good throughout, including housekeeping, but I didn't experience any service touches across 7 days that made me think "wow" (note there are no butlers for standard rooms)
  • The pool area feels a bit like an afterthought, it's on a windswept corner of the building without full-on harbour views (the spa, which can be monetised, gets the prime real estate on that floor)
  • Breakfast and F&B I found to be the real let down. Breakfast for non-club guests is in Holt's Cafe which is nice enough as a venue but has no views and is not big enough at peak times (if you turn up at 9.45am on a Friday / weekend, you'll find yourself queuing for a table). The breakfast itself is a small buffet plus one hot dish of your choice from a short menu, which means you can have eggs or pancakes or oatmeal or noodles but not more than one of these things, unless you want to pay extra per dish (note that none of these things are available on the buffet itself). The buffet itself is high quality but didn't change during the week I was there, other than little touches like switching the smoked salmon to beetroot cured one day. Any drink other than juice / filtered water / coffee / tea is chargeable (e.g. sparkling water is extra). I got bored enough of breakfast I skipped it a couple of days despite it being included in my rate.
  • Hours of many things feel a bit limited service currently, e.g. breakfast is 7-10.30am every day, the room service full menu (which isn't that extensive, it's a small subset of the dishes in Holt's Cafe) finishes at 10.30pm, etc. Would be nice to have a bit more flexibility at the luxury level
I'm at FS HK for another 9 nights and interested to do the comparison, but so far I think I'm actually preferring the FS other than the room size...
The Manor Club is the place to be for breakfast or any other meals. Pretty much bottomless offerings and refreshments. I'm surprised the normal buffet is so stingy on hot items though.
