Passport control at 2E
I thought I’d share this observation when flying out of 2E last week.
I discussed with a AdP staff member (who I assume was a supervisor/manager) in the Access No 1 line as it was getting quite long, and he shared that the police officers performing the passport control are the same controlling arriving aircraft. That is, if there’s flights requiring extra control on arrival (typically as you leave the airplane), there’s less officers available for ordinary passport control.
I overheard him politely asking the police over the phone if they could assign someone to the parafe gates (as he saw that a lot of passengers were eligible), and they actually started preparing the gates some time after. I got through the passport control before I could see if they eventually opened the automatic gates.
TL;DR: AdP needs to politely ask the border police to open the automatic passport control gates when it becomes crowded. I guess the upside of this is that there’s no technical issue with automatic gates. For the rest, there’s so many layers to this that I don’t know where to start 😅
