I have been to Khao Lak a few times, the first time being at the end of August 2004, the year of the tsunami.
Beginning of December, the JWM has rates as low as THB 5,100 while the lowest rates at the JWM Suites are THB 13,175,
I usually do not have a problem getting upgraded to a suite and was wondering if the rate difference was justified.
As a result, I find the Suites property a very good redemption deal for a 5 night stay in the week or two leading to Christmas. If booked say June/early July, the cpp could be as crazy as north of 2. And the redemptions for that period this year have run out.
I had planned to stay on points at the Suites last year (week leading to Christmas) but my SNAs for the JWM Phuket cleared, so there I went. Booked again the Suites on points for the same period but now forced to reschedule to January 2024.
