Today I flew AMS-YYC-DEN and didn’t have to go through Canadian passport control. Flight from AMS arrived at a D gate, I walked down to the purple “connections” lines before Canadian passport control. If I remember correctly there were 3 connections lines there: domestic, international, and US. I went down the US connections line, showed my boarding pass to a couple people, then got sent to a dedicated security area. Did the normal security thing, then I got dumped out in the US pre-clearance area right before the Global Entry line. So I didn’t have to enter Canada, and the whole thing took 10 minutes with GE and no checked bags. Sounded like the dedicated security area isn’t staffed full-time so there was a short delay before they were “ready” to have me sent in. I didn’t encounter any lines, but it was my first time at YYC so I have no idea what’s typical.
