I was in J on a 789-9 last night, and if there was something in the bins that could only be accessed by standing right in front of me, it would be either me standing there or the person across the aisle. Having one person's Y bag in those bins therefore doubles the number of passengers who might be standing in front of me fetching something from the bin. Yeah, that's not going to send me into cardiac arrest, but it's not nothing either, especially if I'm trying to sleep (or more precisely: it's less likely to bother me if I'm sleeping, but it's more likely to be really annoying if it does bother me while I'm sleeping). It's the same reason why if I want to stretch my legs in J, I'd do it by the loo or in the galley, not by standing right beside someone.
I think there is a general rule that people stay in their own cabins that always seems to be enforced on planes I'm on, barring exceptional circumstances (e.g., if you really have to go you really have to go). That is why there are separate loos, why it's fine to walk up and down the aisles of your cabin if you need to stretch your legs but not fine to walk the whole length of the plane, and so on.
I agree with you on this. When I pay to fly in J I do not because f the privacy and comfort that I want. I do not like when a crowd of people queue up near my seat waiting for the loos.
When I fly EC, I never go to the J class toilets. Even when I am flying `PE, I never go to J class.
