You'll earn more Bonvoy points by not selecting breakfast as your welcome amenity. Plus you'll earn breakfast at Ritz. There are sometimes offers that are private to STARS.(stay 3 pay 3, additional hotel credits etc)

You have to confirm the STARs rate via a TA. You cannot book a corp rate, AAA, Senior discount or the bonvoy member rate as examples of what doesn't work.
