As far as I am aware all BA tickets have an element of paid flexibility. The more restrictive the ticket you bought was the higher the price to change would be.

I doubt just paying the upgrade price would be enough, I suspect you would need to pay the change fees as per your ticket and any price difference to move the the flight you want to get onto then pay the upgrade on top of that
