See Posts 63 and 64. Cledaybuck's experience with Basic Economy fares is actual and recent -- he and his wife (who are AAdvantage members) got Group 6 boarding; his child (who is not an AAdvantage member) got Group 9.

I do not know whether this was always the case with Basic Economy fares, but based on Cledaybuck's post, it seems to be the case now.​​​​
