Thanks for your comments, particuarly on all the different ways one can interpet the new rules! We're going to update the news article on the website so it's more clear.

In short, what we had in mind was (taking someone who has 950XP in their counter as of Nov 1):

- 300 XP will be deducted for one more year of Platinum (as usual)
- 300 XP will be carried over in the surplus XP counter
- 300 XP will be converted into 1 year of PFL (to confirm, this is for this transition year only; this won't be a recurring feature)
- 50 XP will unfortunately be forfeited

We wanted to give you as much notice as possible so as to give you time to adjust your travel patterns well in advance of the rule changes. I can fully appreciate that those of you with XP in limbo (i.e. <299) will be negatively impacted, so hopefully over the next 12 months you can arrange to finish your QP with a multiple of 300 XP, which will then be reflected on your PFL counter.
