About two weeks ago, our ORD-ASE flight got diverted to GJT (Grand Junction, CO--two hours west of Aspen) due to low visibility on approach. The text message I received for hotel/food vouchers was very quick. That said, be sure to check the distance the hotel is from the airport (which is listed on the webpage). One hotel was the Holiday Inn Express right next to the airport (but when you click on the link to book, it said it was sold out). The other two options were in ... Moab, Utah, 67 miles away! Fortunately, SkyWest was able to drag a local employee out of bed (this was at 11pm, and they had been done with operations for a few hours) and he got to the airport pretty quickly.
He said someone in Chicago must've curated this hotel list. After a lot of typing, I got a new text message with three local hotels. I chose the Doubletree a mile away and also got $40 in meal vouchers.
