Congrats to BR and Airbus! Overall, I think this is a wise move on BR's part. Between the 787s and A350s they will have state-of-the-art, highly efficient widebodies with lower cabin altitude, higher humidity, larger windows and bins, and so on. A few years ago, then-BR Chairman was saying that they would stick with 787 and 777X. Even the Starlux renderings has 777s in them. But as we all know, the 777X has been delayed for years, whereas the A350 is certified and flying. And boy has the A350-1000 been having a banner year: AF-KLM, AI, QF, and now BR ordering it.

I would be shocked, shocked, if there isn't a door on the new J seat. Will it be called Royal Laurel Suites? I am curious whether it will evolve things further from the BMW DesignWorks styled J seats on the 787s. And will they go for a mild but competitive upgrade (a la Etihad or BA with their herringbone seats + doors) or will they swing for the fences and aim for the industry leading J seats (Qatar's QSuites, ANA"s The Room)? BR is supposed to introduce a new Premium Economy next year, maybe it will be on the 787-9s? I bet that seat will make it onto the A350s.

Probably we'll also see electronic dimming windows and/or windows with electronic shades in J. Maybe BR will go for the "higher ceilings" in J with no center bins. I hope they add back personal air vents though; those are much missed. And they better not go to 3-4-3 in the A350 Y cabin!
