FWIW, last year, I misconnected in IAH due to a MX. Had to talk with the GA, who manually issued me a hotel voucher, meal vouchers, and ground transportation (taxi) vouchers the following day. Even as a non-elite, I was put up in the very nice Sheraton North hotel. Absolutely seamless, and the GA couldn't have been any friendlier. YMMV.
