I am also one who obsessively checks my IHG bookings (don't have status with Marriott so I don't stay there and for Hilton I tend to stay at luxury properties that are already at their maxed point value so no need to recheck). Usually I only save at most 2k points and I am okay with that because a point saved is a point earned but my most recent booking I saved almost 40K in less than a month! Booked for 161k Oct 11 and after several rebooks ended up with 105k today. Now there is no more availability so I can be more lax in checking.
