Maybe an odd question but I figured this may be the place to ask. I have both a Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite and a Citi AAdvantage MileUp Mastercard as well as a Citi Savings account.

I also have a 17 year old kid who is a authorized user on the MileUp card – I mistaken believed that I could use their AAdvantage account to earn them miles. Not so, they are both linked to my account.

It’s my understanding that 18 years old is when they can get cards in their name. Obviously, they have no real credit history so when their birthday rolls around, what’s the best way to get a MileUp card in their own name – linked to their AAdvantage account? I have no issue ‘cosigning’ and being responsible for the charges but I’ve seen no place where that was an option when applying online.

The goal is two fold. Building their own credit history and earning AA miles.
