Ah, sorry, I misread your post. I thought you’d only been to the airport, not the city.

I’m not sure I follow you here. You wrote that your bags will be checked all the way through from TLL to the US, so I’m assuming all your flights are on the same ticket? In that case you’ll only check in in TLL and receive boarding passes for both TLL–AMS and the connecting flight out of AMS. The only formality in AMS will be passport control and – if you go landside – security.
