I believe online is trying to reissue BOTH tickets of the multi city , whereas it should only be reissuing the first one. The agent said it must be reissued as a pair, unfortunately.

It's not a multi-city ticket, it's a one-way ticket with a stopover (a multi-ticket would've cost more, because HND-BKK in J would've definitely cost you more than 5k miles). So the whole ticket needs to be re-issued for a change.
How much would DFW-HND-BKK all in F cost you? Because that's what you'll owe, regardless of whether HND-BKK is in J or F.
