Interesting point I read….. Had AC diverted for medical care for her father, and he did not survive. Now she, her mother and her deceased fathers body are in a foreign country they may not have had a visa for. She and her mother may have been held at the airport for hours working on obtaining a visa while her father was transported to a hospital and passed. Only to arrive at the hospital hours later to find out he passed. Now, she and her mother are left to fight and mud their way thru that countries red tape to have the body released to be flown to Canada.
Can only wonder if that had happened would she be blaming AC for diverting to another country and the red tape they had to deal with. I have a feeling that this lady would have tried to go after AC in this situation as well.
It is possible to be "paroled" into a country in such extreme circumstances. For example, if you are in the international zone of an airport in a country that you need a visa to enter but do not have the visa, and you commit a crime and are to be arrested, it is possible to created a bubble of international zone around you and still put you in jail. You are physically in the country but never "admitted". There is a YouTube video (reputable source, I know) somewhere that explains this.
Anyone suffering from a medical emergency can certainly benefit from such a mechanism. I don't know how easily this extends to the family members for them to accompany the patient, but at least the patient is now in a hospital being treated and saved. All other things, such as visa or AC's money, are inferior.
This is such a tragedy.
