I did find several links about how this great new capability was developed in house at Emirates.

It seems to be a very ‘patchy’ feature. On a few occasions I have received a notification in the app to the effect that my baggage has been loaded on board. But it has never persisted throughout the trip (including connections in DXB). IIRC the initial notification was always at LGW.
