Best segment runs used to be YYJ-YVR given frequency and short duration of flights. Quick turnaround (just wait at the same gate for the same plane), no border issues. Been a while since I used those. Nowadays it might be much more difficult with many full flights unless you can find days in your budget range with more classes available/sale fares (but then full flights is an issue on many runs).
Thanks for suggestion. I looked at this (even with the crazy prices). My preference is to book multi segment trips on one booking. I’m worried that the need to book separate tickets would mess things up in irrops. Irrops could impact a different booking but I think a multi-segment trip would be easier to reroute, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion and the Dec 9 date. Unfortunately that routing doesn’t work for me but in trying YEG-YXS I see that the 6am YEG-YYC flight is back on that date, which opens up other possibilities…
