Thanks for creating the thread PETER01.

To add to the knowledge base, it is worth mentioning that both British Airways and all UK airports that BA uses are signed up to the Sunflower lanyard scheme. Lanyards are available from the assistance check-in or landside assistance help point (airport dependent).

The scheme recognises that not all disabilities, as defined by the Equality Act as any long term condition that has a non-trivial effect on a persons daily life, are visible.

I’ve had mixed experiences on BA. 1 terrible experience (which was well discussed on here), mostly average experiences and a few exceptional experiences where I’ve been asked by the CC if there is anything they can do to help.

You can use the assistance security/boarder control lanes with a sunflower lanyard and it does help if you need to pre-board and your disability is not obvious without needing to explain/reveal personal information.

Outstations can be less familiar with the lanyard, I’ve had some whisk me to the front of the passport queue on arrival, but mostly nothing. BA staff tend to be aware from internal communications.

Further information about the scheme can be found here https://hdsunflower.com/au/insights/...-the-sunflower
