Thanks for the info. I had some time over the weekend to make some mock bookings for cash and I assume that the surcharges, taxes, and fees portion will be nearly identical for an award ticket?

Indeed, the business class flight r/t from U.S. was about $2,000 in fees, but premium economy was about $800 in fees, which isn't too wonderful, either.

Makes me wonder if these promo awards can be upgraded from economy to premium economy with money or miles? Would it save any $$ to do so?
