I remember a lawyer friend a couple years ago mentioning that lawyers often can represent companies in Small Claims, but are often there in more of a "answering questions from a judge" type of role than what you'd expect a lawyer to be doing in a much larger case. One nice thing is that judges can take less s*** from lawyers here as well, and can start to channel a Judge Judy with responses like "so you spent the last 90 seconds avoiding saying the word "no" is that correct?"
Again, just hearsay, but would make sense.
