Not an answer to your direct question, but hopefully a solution to your need: I'd suggest calling Hyatt and plainly asking the agent if they can apply the TSU to your back-to-back reservations. Don't mention merging reservations or anything. I think it can be done, but it might require an atypical workflow and/or approval from the hotel or a supervisor.
