2. Can I request reimbursement for my new flight from BA?
Others have far more expertise, but I think:
1. Need to have more details of reason for cancellation before entitlement to UK261 compensation is apparent
2. Duty of care will apply regardless in terms of hotel, meals etc incurred due to cancellation
3. Can't get a refund of original ticket plus reimbursement for new flight, but should be able to get one or the other - think you'll need to engage with BA for reasonable alternatives and give them opportunity to book this for you first. Try MMB or calling directly.
Good luck!
