Rules are rules, but does it really make a difference between an extra 2 kg's in a cabin bag, or if those 2 kg's were shifted into a checked bag at the end of the day for load and fuel purposes seeing as the weight is the exact same? As mentioned above, what about if you simply put on an extra 5 kg's of jackets, jumpers, sweaters and pants out of your carry on to comply. It does seem a bit ridiculous in some circumstances.
