I had a great ride MAN-ATL in a PE seat in the upper deck of a 747 in 2019. I did PE on a A330-900 BOS-LHR within the past 12 months and the seat cushion was extremely uncomfortable. I think if you are paying your own money, PE is a good deal on UK-USA flights because it offers sufficient comfort at an affordable price. The VS service in this class is better than on DL, and often VS has a lower fare.
