I recently underwent surgery to free a nerve in my elbow. I have been equipping my whole world with foam pads to minimize pressure on my elbow - I am too young to resign myself to permanent nerve damage. I'd hoped to make the portable pads I bought to use at partner sites serve double duty for planes and rental cars, but they're way too wide for an airplane armrest. It would not be reasonable to expect a seatmate to tolerate it.

Unfortunately, I can't tell for the life of me how much room I have to work with. It probably varies, even. I guess I'm looking to know the minimum armrest width Southwest offers? If anyone happens to hold this weird factoid in their head, or is better at guestimating from memory than I, you'd have my gratitude. Right now I have reasonable confidence it is wider than 1" and narrower than 4"...
