So I’ve always been under the impression that in Small Claims Court, you can only sue for actual monetary damages and you can’t hire a lawyer. According to USA Today, the plaintiff here was awarded miles (non-monetary), money for emotional distress (not damages, I don’t think), and AA hired a lawyer.
I guess the rules vary by jurisdiction?
