Hi, there are 2 potential issues here:

1) There has been a glitch with AA releasing basically 'phantom' C space the past 2 nights, EF lights up like a Christmas tree but this space is not actually bookable when you call in.

2) If the C space was in fact not 'phantom', and the agent insists you just have to wait for the waitlist to clear, then HUCA as noted above. Some agents will say this while others will process your upgrade immediately.

But if this flight was C0 for weeks and suddenly went to C7 yesterday then it's almost assuredly the phantom space issue.
